Thunder and lightning

Thunder and lightning is a popular Cornish sweet dish.  Extremely simple in nature, Thunder and Lightning is bread with clotted cream and Golden Syrup (known as treacle) spread on it. Some families in Cornwall use black treacle to make this dish rather than the more refined Golden Syrup.

A nice variation is to replace the bread with a plain or fruit scone adding a extra layer or richness (although this is not considered as traditional).
