Cornish artist Tamsyn “Gurdybird” Swingler has very kindly produced a set of limited edition lino prints all inspired by the work of the Cornish Culture Association. For each print sold a donation is made to the work of the CCA. Each print is pressed by hand in limited quantities. They are then hand finished, numbered, titled (if the title doesn’t appear in the image) and signed by the artist. They are also individually mounted, but can be carefully removed should you wish to have them framed. The below image is how the print looks, and the watermark is only included for internet protection. Due to the process of printing, some small differences are likely.
Old Ned is one of Penzance’s guise beasts, a giant crow who appears at many Cornish events, including May Horns and Montol. During the May Horns Procession, Old Ned “dies” three times and is returned to life. Horns are blown to revive him and to “drive out the Devil of Winter”. Price £50 plus postage.
